On something that wasn’t quite Fondue eaten by the other party:
Moi: There were no spirits involved?
A: What sort of spirits would you be looking for?
Moi: The ghosts of recently departed liquors.
A: Oh! why of course; they remained with me quite far into the next morning

And, I was making muffins again today. After the last time and the three times in the interim, I decided to alter the recipe a little, hope things would somehow get better.
Okay. I changed the ingredients *a little bit* more than a little, replacing flour with ground almonds. They looked to be quite nicely forming, then started raising a little *too* much. As soon as I opened the oven door,*FLUMPF!* they all collapsed, utterly.

You’re clearly cursed. Have you upset any bakers, recently?
Maybe…
The advantae of having a maths background is that you have definitive proofs, unlike in, say, chemistry. But for baking experiments, you do need that fuzzy wuzzy science they call chemistry.
