Systematic failures of communist regimes cause sympathetic tsunamis.

A discourse on Lisbon, home economics, doors, and tautologies.

Out at lunch with friends some weeks ago, a one Col did the most amusing thing. Someone brought up something about Lisbon into the conversation. Col then said something like “two women sleeping together”, some disjoint phrase like that, not interrupting the flow of the conversation but loudly enough so that it was heard by everyone. Pretty much everyone who wished to talk Lisbon after that slipped up and said “Lisbian” several times, monself included.

I thoroughly recommend it, and applaud Col’s ingenuity!

You know all those people who balk at the thought of uttering “PIN number”. Well then, I can see no reason why they shouldn’t similarly object to the term “home economics”. According to the bible, we have it rooted etymologically in the latin word “oeconomia”, which denotes the person who manages a household. So yeah, ho ho ho & all that.

When’s a door a door?
When it’s a tautology.
