St. Bernards Toilet Tissue is advertised on the pack to have a sheet width of 10cm, and a sheet length of 12 cm. I carried out a basic inspection to find out if there were any deviations from these advertised lengths. Using a standard measuring stick, i took the measurements of 25 pieces of toilet paper.
Lengths:{12.4,12.4,12.3,12.3,12.35,12.25,12.25,12.35,12.3,12.2,12.3,12.3,12.4,12.25,12.3,12.3,12.23,12.18,12.2,12.2,12.25,12.2}
Widths:{10.05,10.1,9.95,10.02,9.8,9.95,9.9,9.98,9.9,10,10.05,10,10.1,9.9,10,9.85,10.025,9.97,1010.15,9.97,10.05,9.84,10.03,9.9}
This gives an average length of 12.29, an average height of 9.98. Taking pairs of lengths and heights, an average area of 122.612 is gained, above the expected 120cm2 area indicated on the pack
So, next time you go out to buy a pack of St. Bernards toilet tissue, you can rest assured that you are getting your money’s worth in terms of area :)
